The visual journey of mindfulness can enable us to bring a sense of relief and ease to our practice, especially if you find yourself judging your “ability”. This idea of mindfulness as a practice represented by the petals of a flower, reminds us that it is in the recognition of our drifting minds that we can compassionately return to the present moment, and in doing so, ourselves. When our thoughts run away with us, we can choose to take a breath, and ground ourselves in what is happening now, not what our mind is telling us could/should happen or even may have happened.
