Online Workshops & Events

While we nest in our own homes and spaces during the COVID-19 lockdown – we are still here in community with Mindful ME. These are some of the opportunities to connect with, and engage with us. Over the next while we will be updating this page regularly, with new workshop events relevant to our current experience.

While we aren’t currently running all of our normal group workshops – please remember that you can do all of these as private sessions with our consultants. Contact us to book remote private sessions here.

Upcoming online workshop events:

Online workshop events have a “Name Your Price” option to break down financial barriers to participation, especially during these challenging times. This means that you can nominate your own price for the workshop, from AED50, so that you can help support others by offering more if you can, or less if you can’t.

  • 23 May – Exploring Parenting & Anxiety (9am with Jo)

“It’s not a matter of letting go – you would if you could.  Instead of ‘let it go’ we could say ‘let it be’
Jon Kabat-Zinn
Anxiety shows up in children in many different ways – it can look like anger, avoidance, perfectionism, explosive behaviour and even a desire to please.  Research tells us that teaching and supporting parents of children who experience anxiety in any form has the best long term outcome for both the child and their family relationships.  Children can’t change their response to anxious feelings on their own – and in the moment they often don’t even realise what they are feeling or remember what they could do instead.  If Anxiety shows up in your home then this session will give you the knowledge to understand why it’s arrived and the tools to support your child and family.
Jo will explore this on Instagram LIVE on Thursday 21st at 10am, and run an online workshop on Saturday at 9am to explore the topic more in depth.

  • 23 May – Facing into Uncertainty (4pm with Helen)

Is it ever really possible to get comfortable with not knowing? Can we really learn how to lean into the anxiety and fear that uncertainty brings up in us? This is such a pertinent topic during these uncertain times. Let’s look into this absorbing topic and then follow it with a workshop to climb deeper within it.

  • 30 May – Parenting When You Don’t Feel Like It (9am with Jo)

Loving our children is easy and as parents we are often told to ‘make the most of this time’ or ’it will be over sooner than you think’, but that isn’t always helpful when you are tired, struggling with a toddler having their second tantrum of the day or a teenager who refuses to get up or go to bed!  Parenting can be joyful and rewarding and it can also be exhausting and relentless.  When we are having a good day we don’t always realise it until the end, but when we are having a bad day it feels like it will never be over.  During this session we will explore what’s happening for us and our children on those days – when we don’t feel like parenting and they don’t feel like co-operating, and what you can do to make those days easier and fewer – after all – it will be over sooner than you think!

  • 30 May – Grief and Grieving (4pm with Helen)

Opening into the many layers of grief,  and understanding how to be with the profound pain and inner suffering of ourselves and others is such a new and deeply challenging place for many.  In our lifetime all of us will eventually be touched in some way through suffering the loss, hopelessness, and acute and prolonged pain that brings us into grieving.  Loss happens in many forms and yet there is much to be gained by this life-changing experience.

  • 6th June – Struggling, Striving and Control (4pm with Helen)

As we navigate our way through all the changes that the current situation throws our way, it’s really useful to look closely at our reactions, struggles and challenges and how we strive to take or keep control.  Maybe the struggle for you is in controlling the external circumstances and the behaviour and reactions of others, or maybe your striving is to maintain control of your own reactions.  Either way, lets look at the how and why of struggling and striving and find mindful ways to bring some ease.

  • 13th June – Showing up for Myself (4pm with Helen)

In this session we will focus on one of the questions I’m asked the most:

“How can I really be kind and compassionate to myself?”

“How can I love myself when I’m constantly filled with self-judgment and self-critical thoughts ?”

“How do I really show up for myself with kindness and care?  What practical ways can I do this?”
