I am from Madrid, Spain and have been living in Dubai for nearly four years. I am a native Spanish speaker, fluent in English and can speak some French as well.
I consider myself a curious person with two main interests: love and meaning.
I’m fascinated by the power of love, and I deeply believe our main goal as human beings is to expand our capacity to love. We need to learn how to love others and ourselves which implies acceptance, openness and courage.
I earned a Master’s Degree in Counselling from Universidad Ramon Llull Barcelona and since then I have explored different avenues for personal development including the expressive arts (drama and dance). I studied acting at Cristina Rota, a school of dramatic arts in Madrid and was also part of an amateur drama company. I have always loved dance and expressive movement and for the past ten years, have been teaching belly dance with women as a way to work on their self-esteem and self-image and developing positive relationships amongst women.
Meditation has always been part of my life and I have been in several retreats studying spirituality and several religious practices and their philosophical explanation to the meaning of life. I’ve been practicing yoga and Qigong (Chi Kung) for over a decade.
I have spent the past 12 years working as a counsellor with individuals and group workshops as well. Part of my expertise and my focus as a counsellor has been working with couples. I help my clients understand patterns in their life as well as the way they perceive themselves, the world and their expectations about love. I work with a client centered approach following the principles of Carl Rogers’s work.
From my perspective, life is a spiritual journey. If you understand that every relationship and every event in your life has a purpose you start to find meaning in daily challenges. Crisis, depression and fear are all part of this journey and they occur naturally in our lives.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid. Given my deep interest working with myths, symbols, dreams and fairy tales I began looking for alternative courses to learn more about this subject. This is how I discovered Anthroposophy and fell in love with its teachings. After this discovery, I spent three years studying a method called Human Biography. At the moment, I am writing a book about my own biography, my memoirs.
I’ve been married 26 years and had the opportunity to learn a lot about myself, my wounds and my hopes. My husband is half French, half American who was born and raised in Mexico, this possibly explains my love for understanding other cultural perspectives and ways of seeing the world. This is why I appreciate the opportunity of living in Dubai, which has offered me the gift of learning and expanding my mind and my heart making room for other sensibilities and values.
I am the mother of three children and I consider them my spiritual masters. They are 24, 21 and 18 years old which means I am constantly surrounded by youngsters and I I feel a strong connection with them and an affinity with their youth. This is why I love working with teenagers and young people as well. My children have given me the strength to question my old beliefs and to be humble enough to search for different ways of approaching life.
Our society has imposed us an artificial way of living disconnected from ourselves in order to become more productive. This is why we repress emotions and freeze our hearts. I encourage my clients to get in contact with the vast and mysterious universe that lives inside of them to discover themselves, allowing that uniqueness to express and to contribute to the world. I aim for my clients to experience the joy and fulfilment of authenticity and real, deep relationships – personal and professional (actually, I don’t see the difference).
As humans, we are social beings and we form part of a family system and the relationships we form within it. From a spiritual perspective, your family is not a random occurrence; the family system you belong to is not coincidental and is meant to teach you lessons to contribute to your growth. I spent three years studying the method of Family Constellations as developed by Bert Hellinger and through this method I help my clients understand their place within their family and the implications of traumas and losses that can be carried on from one generation to the next.
Human nature has always interested me. Ever since I was a child I felt a deep curiosity about life. Why we are here, how we relate to one another, what moves us, what is the meaning of our existence, what is happiness all about. I want to share my thoughts, feelings and life experiences as a human to enrich and be enriched.
