Hello….Marhaba!
My name is Kirsty – though I’m also known amongst my Emirati family and friends as Maryam.
As a longstanding member of the Mindful ME community, I am delighted to join the Mindful ME Team as a coach and Mindfulness Teacher. My personal growth in Mindfulness and Meditation began in 2013 when I attended my first Mindfulness workshop with Helen. I can honestly say that this was life changing for me and since then, practicing and living mindfully has become my passion.
I have dedicated the last 5 years to attending workshops, events and retreats around Mindfulness and self-discovery, with the intention of living my most authentic self. With Helen by my side as my mentor, I qualified as an ICF accredited Coach and I am now passionate about bringing empathy, compassion and deep listening into my coaching practice with my clients. I have loved working alongside many of you already in our retreats and workshops and will greatly enjoy bringing my experience and enthusiasm for growth and change to our clients and workshop participants.
Originally from Yorkshire in the UK, Dubai has been my home for the past 30 years. I am married to an Emirati and I have 2 beautiful children; my son Khalifa is 18 and my daughter Alia is 15. I grew up in Dubai, attending JESS then Dubai College and later went on to gain work experience at various multinational companies, before finally settling into a corporate position at Saudi Aramco, where I worked until my son was born, then dedicated my time to raising my children.
I have always been active in the community devoting time to charity work for both local and international causes, visiting the elderly and helping refugees displaced by war. In more recent years I volunteered at The Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, where I had the pleasure of hosting guests from around the world and offering them a safe space to ask questions related to the culture and religion here in the UAE. I strongly believe that by creating a platform for open dialogue, guests and residents alike are able to see the many similarities that join us, rather than differences that divide us, bringing a sense of oneness and understanding.
I am happiest in nature, either exploring the beautiful Yorkshire countryside back in the UK or spending time next to the sea in Dubai. I enjoy swimming and gentle yoga, journaling and most recently photography. I absolutely love to read, in fact for those who know me well, I am rarely without a book in my hand!
I am so looking forward to meeting you and serving the Mindful ME community, holding space for you with grace, as you grow in your own unique way.
